Ruperto Gelbolingo of ‘Ele’ele, Kaua’i died Sept. 1, 2000, at Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 96.
An irrigator with the sugar industry for McBryde Sugar Company, he was born March 27, 1904, in the Philippines.
He is survived by his wife: Fely Laborte Gelbolingo of ‘Ele’ele; one daughter: Rufel Gelbolingo of ‘Ele’ele; three sisters and one brother in the Philippines; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 8, at Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Service at 7 p.m. Visitation again on Saturday, Sept. 9, at ‘Ele’ele Sacred Hearts Church from 8 a.m. Services to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the Hanapepe Filipino Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
