A 46-year-old New Jersey man was pronounced dead at Wilcox Memorial Hospital
after being discovered floating face down in the ocean last Friday at Kealia
Beach.
Authorities said two swimmers saw the man floating in the ocean
about 30 feet offshore at about 8:30 p.m. brought him to shore and began
emergency resuscitation efforts.
The victim, a tourist who was not
identified, and his family were in the water and experienced a strong current,
according to Kaua`i Police. The victim’s wife and children managed to get back
to shore, where the son saw his father floating, police said.
The man was
transported to Wilcox Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
