WAIMEA – If visiting the Waimea Public Library is a big part of your social rumble, alternative plans are going to be necessary.
The library is scheduled to be closed from next Monday through Oct. 20 for repairs on its air-conditioning system, asbestos removal and some construction projects.
During the two-month shutdown, the bookdrops and parking lots will also be closed. Library patrons may visit the Hanapepe Public Library to return books or other materials.
The Waimea library has 3,606 registered borrowers; Hanapepe has 3014. For the next two months, all 6,620 users will be asked to share the fruit of the Hanapepe branch’s shelves.
The Hanapepe library is open 9 to 5 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. It is closed weekends.
Patrons are also reminded by library officials not to leave donations outside the Waimea library, as staff members won’t be around. They will be deployed at other libraries on Kaua`i during the closure.
Hanapepe Library is located between two churches in the heart of Hanapepe town on Kaumualii Highway. Additional information on it is available at 335-5811.
