Kai Resort in 1989 when he relocated to the Philippines. He was known on Kaua’i
as Tata “Ico,” for his healing.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalina Madrid
Fernandez, also of the Philippines; 12 children: Enrique (Margarita) Fernandez
of Kekaha, Irenio (Rosita) Fernandez of Hanama’ulu, Gabby (Ludivico) Ramiscal
of Kapa’a, Reynaldo (Jocelyn) Fernandez of Hanama’ulu, Rolly (Betty) Fernandez
of Kapa’a, Erlinda (Amor, Sr.) Sagucio of Kalaheo, Yolanda (Julius) Corpuz of
Kalaheo, Lydia (Nelson) Villanueva of Kapa’a, Rudy (Maida) Fernandez of Puhi,
Relly (Donna) Fernandez of Honolulu and Marlyn “Lyn” Fernandez of
Wyoming.
He is also survived by five siblings in the Philippines: Feliciano
(Joannie) Fernandez, Macario (Josie) Fernandez, Marina (Voctor) Bolisan,
Remigio Fernandez, and Victoria Fernandez; 41 grandchildren, 12 great
grandchildren; nine nieces and six nephews.
Services were held in the
Philippines.

Tsuneo Takata of Honokaa, HI, died on Aug.
8, 2000, at Kuakini Hospital at the age of 80.
A retired sugar mill
supervisor, he was born on Jan. 25, 1920, in Paauhau, HI.
He is survived by
sons, Kenneth, Victor, Dale, and Rex; brothers, Richard and Michio; eight
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Private services were held.
Arrangements were handled by Borthwick Mortuary.
