Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from noon, where services will be
conducted at 2 p.m. Burial to follow in Kapa’a County Cemetery.
Casual

Eduardo Ilar Arrocena, of Kekaha,
Kaua’i, died at home on Aug. 6, 2000, at the age of 93.
Born in Sinait,
Ilocos Sur, Philippines on Oct. 11, 1906, he was a retired Laborer with Kekaha
Sugar Co.
He is survived by: two daughters: Edith Arrocena of ‘Ele’ele,
Kaua’i and Anna Arrocena of Kekaha, Kaua’i granddaughters: Tiffanie Duarte
and Cheyanne Duarte, both of ‘Ele’ele, Kaua’i

Kekaha; funeral service to begin at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the Kekaha

Care Center on Aug. 7, 2000, at the age of 78.
Born in Hanapepe, Kaua’i on
June 18, 1922, he was a retired Lumber Consultant with A & B Commercial; he
is survived by: his wife: Hisame Chun of ‘Ele’ele, Kaua’i; one son: Kevin
(Elaine) Chun of Mililani, Oahu; one daughter: Lisa (Bart) Nakamoto of
Waikele, Oahu; three grandchildren; three brothers: Paul (Atsuko) Chun of
Honolulu, Oahu, Iga Chun of Kaneohe, Oahu, and David Chun of Honolulu, Oahu;
one sister: Alice (Thomas) Matsumoto of Wahiawa, Oahu; numerous nieces and
nephews.

12, at the Hanapepe United Church of Christ; service officiated by Pastor
Mitchell Young will begin at 11 a.m. Service also at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug.

Shirley Barrett Bell died Aug. 4, 2000,
at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 80.
The proprietor of Country
Inn, and Keoni’s Lanai and Bamboo Broiler, she was born April 3, 1920, in
Lamars, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband: Stewart Bell of Lihu’e; one
son: William J. (Ann) Barnett of San Clemente, Calif., two daughters: Sue
(John) Mahelona of Kapahi and Julie (Don) McManus of Big Bear, Calif.; one
step-daughter: Wendy (Frank) Pellegrino of Kapa’a; three sisters: Marge Luschen
of California, Dorothy (Wally) Dunkar of Iowa, and Mary McDonald of
Connecticut; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends and
family may call on Saturady, Aug. 12, at Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary in Koloa
from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. followed
by scattering services at Lydgate Beach Park. Luncheon to follow.

Quirino Sadorra
Quirino R. Sadorra, formerly of Kaua’i,
Hawai’i, died in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan, Philippines on July 31, 2000, at the
age of 88.
He is survived by one daughter, Nenita (Eduardo) Caoagas Sadorra
Dilag of New York, one hanai daughter, Loreta (Richard) Caoagas Lane of
Australia and two grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Iliong
Bagalayos Sadorra of the Philippines; special nephew Froilan (Eleanor) Sadorra
Galano of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Services
will be held in the Philippines at a later date.
Jarvis F.
Smith
Jarvis F. Smith, of Puhi died at his home on Aug. 5, 2000, at the age
of 52.
Self employed, he was born on Dec. 13, 1947, in Vermont and served
in the military for a number of years. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, music and
auto racing.
He is survived by his wife, Denise J. Smith of Puhi and his
mother ,Sylvia J. Smith of South Burlington.
Private memorial services will
be held.
