Forget politics. Gerald Ford, the former President who suffered two strokes while in Philadelphia for this week’s Republican Party national convention, deserves the prayers and best wishes of everyone for a speedy and thorough recovery.
Ford was a good steward of the country at a time when it needed reassurance and steady leadership following the resignation of then-President Nixon.
As all of America’s chief executives do, Ford has grown in stature since leaving office. Thus, even though partisanship is at a fever pitch following the GOP convention and in anticipation of the Democrats’ confab that’s soon to come, it should be easy to put such feelings aside and root for a man who did so much for all of us.
