Kaua`i Interscholastic Federation (KIF) dated July 24 lists the first game on
Kaua`i at Hanapepe Park when the Waimea High School Menehunes host the Punahou
Buffenblu with kickoff at 7:35 p.m. on August 18.
The following afternoon,
the Kapa`a High School Warriors will see action against the Lunas of
Lahainaluna in a 2:00 p.m. encounter at Vidinha Stadium.
Kaua`i High School
will be travelling to the Hawai`i Prep campus on the Big Island for their first
pre-season matchup also scheduled for August 19.
On August 25, the
Menehunes will meet the Konawaena High School squad in Kona, and on August 26,
the Kaua`i Red Raiders will host Calvary Chapel at Vidinha Stadium starting at
2:30 p.m.
Kapa`a will be travelling to Honoka`a for an encounter there to
round out the pre-season.
September 8 is the first game of the regular
season, with the Junior Varsity (JV) teams of Kapa`a travelling to Hanapepe
Stadium to meet the Waimea High School JV starting at 5 p.m.
The varsity
contest begins at 7:35 p.m., or 40 minutes following the completion of the JV
contest.
According to Kapa`a High School athletic director Dwight Fujii,
this game and the game on September 29 will be the only games affected the the
replacement of lights at Vidinha Stadium.
The season concludes with the
Menehunes’ homecoming contest at Hanapepe on November 3.
All KIF football
games will be broadcast live locally by KUAI Am 720 by commentator Joel
Pahukula, and a video tape-delay broadcast of the game will take place on the
JK Show with J Robertson doing the play-by-play. Tentative scheduling calls
for the Friday night game to be aired on Sunday and Tuesday nights.
