Philippines, he was a seed man with ‘Olokele Sugar and a tractor operator for
Lihu’e Plantation.
He is survived by his wife, Anastacia “Tacing” Ganir
Acob of Wailua; one daughter: Leorie Acob of Wailua; one son: Larie Acob of
Wailua; one granddaughter: Ariel Acob of Seattle, Washington; one sister:
Enriquita (Vicente) Cubangbang of Hanama’ulu; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, July 20, at Borthwick Kaua’i
Mortuary Chapel from 6-9 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Visitation is
again scheduled for Friday, July 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
from 9 a.m. where mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Father Paul. Burial
will follow at the Kaua’i Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is
suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua’i
Mortuary.
Paul Ziegler
Paul Ziegler of Anahola Meadows, Kaua’i
died at home on June 29, 2000, at the age of 61.
Born in Rockford, Ill., he
came to Kauai in May 1999 from Santa Cruz, Calif., where he combined his
passions for music and the sea in hundreds of original songs, which he sang to
the accompaniment of his own guitar. He played rhythm guitar for Hot Tuna, a
spinoff from the Jefferson Airplane, and toured with the band of Carlos
Santana. He sailed throughout the world as captain of private and commercial
vessels, including his own fishing boats.
On Kaua’i, he and his companion
transformed an older house in Anahola into a successful bed-and-breakfast
establishment known as Hale Pau Hana.
Services will be at his home in
Anahola on Saturday, July 15, at 2 p.m.
He is survived by his son, Jamie
Ziegler of Santa Cruz, Calif., and his longtime companion, Valerie Woods of
Anahola.
