HONOLULU-Several Kaua`i youth fared well at the recent Hershey Track and Field
event that was held at Kaiser High School on O`ahu.
Three of Kaua`i’s
younger track and field performers finished at the lead of their events
including Chance Bukoski (B9-10), Kathleen Cadiente (G9-10), and Jonathan
Rellin (B11-12).
Chance Bukoski was one of the younger Kauaians who topped
the Softball Throw in the Boys 9-10 division with a toss of 142’2.25″,
almost four feet farther than Bryson Namba of the Ewa Flyers.
Bukoski, a
student at Kapa`a Elementary, also placed third in the 100-meter dash (15.08),
and topped the field in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:15.65, crossing the
tape just under five seconds ahead of Willie Washington of the Hawai`i
Roadrunners.
Kathleen Cadiente of Wilcox School was tops in the Girls 9-10
Standing Long Jump with a leap of 6 feet 5 inches, four inches farther than
second place Brynne Asing of Kaneohe. Krista Speroni of Island School was
third with a jump of 6’0.”
Kathleen Cadiente continued her performance
by placing fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.88, and third in the
200-meter dash (34.97).
Speroni also placed in the 200-meter event,
finishing at 37.79, and finished seventh in the 400-meter run stopping the
clock at 1:22.75.
Annette DeAnda, a student at Kapa`a Elementary School was
fourth in the Girls 9-10 200-Meter Dash with a 35.16 run before placing second
in the 400-meter run by stopping the clock at 1:19.91.
Jonathan Rellin
topped the Boys 11-12 Standing Long Jump with a leap of 7 fee 11
inches.
Kevin Cadiente of Kaua`i Intermediate School placed third in the
Boys 13-14 Softball throw on a fling of 178 feet, one-half inch. Cadiente also
finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a 13.26 showing, and ended in third
place in the 200-meter dash on a 27.70 run.
Leilani Alquiza rounded out the
Kaua`i finishers by placing in the girls 13-14 100-meter dash.
The youth
qualified for the event by winning their respective events at the county’s Age
Group Track and Field Meet that was held earlier in the year at Vidinha
Stadium.
