Senior Centers Senior Softball, bombed East Kaua`i 21-3 to set up this
weekend’s finale at Kaumakani Field.
The Rookies are one game over West
Kaua`i, the league’s first round champions, in current standings, so a win by
the Rookies, or a loss by West Kaua`i would give the second round to the
Rookies who would then face each other for the league title in a playoff
game.
Louie Almadova of the Lihu`e A’s and Dado Paiste of K-Makules locked

day’s finale.

with Marv Perry, Sonny Hoopii, and Dado Paiste all pairing hits.

run on eight hits in the day’s opener with Ted Tamashiro suffering the loss for
Kawaihau.
Bobby Rita led the West Kaua`i bats with a 3-for-3 outing behind
the plate with Rivera, Jr. and Rickie Caveiro pairing hits.
Don Boro scored
Kawaihau’s lone run as he singled with one away in the 7th inning, advanced to
second on Joe Pendergest’s ground out; moving to third on a Teddy Daligdig hit,
and coming home on a Ted Tamashiro stick.
The Rookies’ Archie Fontanilla
picked up his 8th win by going the distance on the mound in the 21-3 rout with
Ronnie Holt suffering the defeat.
Stan Dela Cruz touted a 5-for-5
performance behind the plate including a home run for the Rookies’
hitting.
Hank Nishikawa, 4-for-5, also cranked a homer along with Dickie
Sialana and Doric Remata. Nelly Mendonca ended the outing with 4
hits.
East Kaua`i picked up 7 hits in the loss with 3 coming in the 6th
inning where they picked up their 3 runs.
Les Kubo and Ray Sam Fong both
settled on the pads with hits, and scored on an Ed Bales’ triple. Alex Youn

point.
Saturday’s games start at 9:15 with the Rookies (8-1) hosting
Kawaihau (0-9) followed by the Lihu`e A’s (6-3) meeting East Kaua`i (4-5). The
