KIHEI, Maui—Kaua`i’s 14 & Under, the Kaua`i Bullfrogs, and the 17 &
Under, Ho`okahi Ikaika inline roller hockey teams repeated their victories at
the 2000 Pacific Regional Championships played here over the weekend.
The
Bullfrogs emerged through a six-team field unscathed, posting a 4-0 record
while the Ho`okahi Ikaika finished with a 3-0-1 record in their four-team
bracket. This is the Bullfrogs’ sixth consecutive victory in regional
championship play.
Kaua`i’s 10 & Under and 12 & Under teams were
among the youngest teams in their divisions, but despite good play, could not
post any wins.
Eric Fujikawa and Ricky Riopta of the Bullfrogs were voted
co-winners of the 14 & Under MVP award while team mates Travis Taketa and
Alohi Costa were co-winners of the top goalie award.
Andy Oda of Ho`okahi
Ikaika was voted MVP in the 17 & Under division.
As regional champions,
the Kaua`i Bullfrogs and Ho`okahi Ikaika have been invited to participate in
the national championships to be held in Tampa, Florida in
August.
