fueled the offense that had the Lihu`e team outscoring the Boys & Girls
Club 11-7 in the first half, but that effort sputtered in the third period as
the Boys & Girls Club surged ahead 12-4 enroute to taking the 26-22 win in
the latest round of Kaua`i Youth Basketball Association 12U boys basketball
played at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Elijah Duncan and Michael
Lindsey were responsible for the Boys & Girls Club ignition in the third
period as each player plunked three field goals apiece.
Duncan ended the
night with a trey to finish with 11 points along with Lindsey for high point
honors.
Sit took high point honors for the Wolfpack with 9 points.
The
Westside Hornets capitalized on aggressive defense, fast-breaking court action,
and missed free throws by the Lihu`e Raptors to nail a 42-39 win in the night’s
finale.
Breaking a 6-6 first quarter stalemate, the Hornets fired in five
field goals to the Raptors’ two to take a 16-14 halftime lead.
The Raptors
answered with seven field goals, Chad Nonaka (2), Raymond Jerves (1), Lucky
Andres (2), and Kahua Hollinger (2), in the third period to the Hornets’ one
tucked in by Brendan McDaniels for a 15-7 bulge, only to fall short in the
final period 12-6 for the final 42-39 Hornet showing.
McDaniels and Alden
Lahip topped the scoring for the Westside Hornets with 10 points apiece in the
win.
Hollinger, exploding for 8 points in the second half, topped the
Lihu`e Raptors’ scoring.
