KALAHEO—Elijah Duncan of the Boys & Girls Club ended the night with 25
points to lead all scorers in the KYBA boys 12 & Under basketball program,
but the effort was not enough to stop the Lihu`e Raptors who had four players
in double-digit scores to take the 58-43 win at Kalaheo Neighborhood
Center.
The Boys & Girls Club-Kapa`a outscored the Raptors 15-10 in the
first quarter behind balanced scoring from Duncan and Michael Lindsey and then
surged to a 16-10 fourth period behind Duncan’s 7 points, including a
trey.
Kaleo Perez lit up the boards in the second frame as the Raptors
exploded for a 24-8 showing with Perez leading the offense with a pair of
3-pointers combining with Kahua Hollinger’s 3 field goal showing. Chad Nonaka
and Raymond Jerves fueled that scoring surge with four points
apiece.
Nonaka, igniting for 6 points in the fourth period, and Perez
topped the Raptors’ offense with 14-point showings with Jerves and Hollinger
rounding out the double digit scoring with 12 and 10 points
respectrively.
David Shea’s 9 points and Brendan McDaniels’ 6 points headed
the Westside Hornets’ 31-22 win over the Lihu`e Wolfpack in the second outing
of the night.
Guards Dustin Kaui, exploding in the fourth period, and
Bradley Semana led the Wolpack scoring with 6 and 2 points
each.
