The St. Elias Community School girls’ basketball
team has taken Kaua`i by storm, winning all of their games played against
opponents from all three of Kaua`i high schools.
Saturday night opened the
books for the team from the Yukon, Canada as they overcame an 18-12 point run
by the Kaua`i High Red Raiders in the first period to take the 55-34 contest
behind 14 points put in by Alicina Banks.
Erin Garlie came off the bench
for the Raiders to lead their effort with 14 points.
The Kapa`a High School
Warriors and the JV team were the victims of the Yukon Canadians on Easter
Sunday as the JV squad fell 52-27 while the Lady Warriors lost a 51-48
heartbreaker in the day’s finale.
Banks led the scoring for the Canadians
with 12 points in the JV contest with Kahea Lopez tucking away 8 points for the
JV team.
Banks and Kapa`a Jordyn Danner tied with 14-point efforts in the
Lady Warriors’ loss.
Monday night saw the Canadians trek out to the
westside where they handled the Menehunes 52-37 behind Banks’ 13 points and
Jennifer Racz’s 10 points.
Robyn Manuel had high point honors for Waimea
with 13.
