Mrs. Shitanaka is survived by: son: Roy
(Janice) Shitanaka of Waimea, Kauai, daughter: Joy (Allan) Tanigawa of Waimea,
Kauai; and five grandchildren.
Services were private. Arrangements are
being handled by Hosoi Garden Mortuary & Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Toshiko Obatake
Toshiko Obatake, of Kekaha, Kauai, died at Samuel Mahelona
Memorial Hospital on April 16, 2000, at the age of 90. Born in Eleele, Kauai on
Jan. 1, 1910, she was a Pineapple Packer with Del Monte Pineapple Co.
She
is survived by: son: Stanley (Pat) Obatake of Honolulu, O’ahu; three daughters:
Eleanor”Kachan” Takeuchi of Kekaha, Kauai, Joyce (Edward) Fujikawa of Beloit,
Wisconsin, and Jeanette (Kazuo) Shimabuku of Honolulu, O’ahu; brother: Hiroshi
Sagawa of Hanapepe, Kauai, sister: Fukumi Suzui of Honolulu, O’ahu,
sister-in-law: Koume Sagawa of Kapaa, Kauai; 10 grandchildren, and eight
great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family at 3 p.m. on
Friday, April 21, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service officiated by
Rev. Ikeda will begin at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers
omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary,
Ltd.
Chiyono Morikawa
Chiyono Morikawa, of Waimea, Kauai, died at Kauai
Veterans Memorial Hospital on April 4, 2000, at the age of 91.
She was
born in Makaweli, Kauai on Nov. 29, 1908.
Mrs. Morikawa is survived by;
three sons: Alvin (Carol) Morikawa of O’ahu, James (Arlene) Morikawa of Calif.,
Stephen Morikawa of Waimea, Kauai; one daughter: Esther Fukuda of O’ahu; six
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother: Gunichi (Chizuko) Yasunaka
of O’ahu; two sisters: Edna Okumuraand Janet Okikawa, both of O’ahu, numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were private. Arrangements are being
handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Charles A. Yoshioka
Charles A.
Yoshioka of Kapa’a died April 15, 2000, at Kapiolani at Pali Momi at the age of
60.
An employee with the State of Hawaii Library Services on Kaua’i, he was
born April 20, 1939, in Lihu’e.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; sons,
Dwight and Dwayne; brother, Masaichi (Caroline) Yoshioka; sisters, Clara
(Howard) Ishii, Elsie (Naokichi) Fuse and Karen (Roy) Fujimori; one grandson,
Drake; one sister-in-law, Mrs.Tsuruko Yoshioka.
Memorial service will be at
4:30 p.m. at Kapa’a Jodo Mission Friday, April 21. Inurnment will be at a later
date.
Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted. Arrangements
are being handled by Borthwick Mortuary Honolulu.
