LIHU’E — Jason Hurd, described by Darryl Izumo as one of the hottest bowlers
in the PBA Main Tour will make an appearance at Lihu’e Bowling Center during
the upcoming Inaugural Rice Shopping Center PBA Western Regional Open
tournament that will kick off Sunday with the Budweiser Pro-Am event starting
at 4 p.m.
Four Kaua’i bowlers, Caesar Acoba, Kevin Pogasi, Joe Young, Sr.,
and Ron Silva, Jr., have already qualified to participate in the tournament,
having won berths by clinching wins in recent “Win A Spot” tournaments hosted
by Lihu’e Bowling Center.
First round of qualifying starts at 9 a.m. on
April 3.
A noon start time is scheduled for the second qualifying round,
and according to Izumo of Lihu’e Bowling Center, the initial field will be
whittled down to twelve bowlers at day’s end.
Championship play begins at
10 a.m. on April 4 with final match-play round scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
followed by an awards ceremony.
The Budweiser Pro-Am event is designed to
allow local bowlers a chance to bowl alongside PBA bowlers with winning teams
vying for cash prizes.
A Pro-Am party where Kaua’i bowling enthusiasts can
meet and chat with PBA bowlers is scheduled to start at 5 p.m., Sunday, April
2.
