Alice Uohara of Lihu’e died at Hale Omao Nursing Facility on March 9, 2000 at the age of 74. Born in Waimea on June 27, 1925, she was a retired store clerk with Foodland. She is survived by two sons,
Alice Uohara of Lihu’e died at Hale Omao Nursing Facility on March 9, 2000 at
the age of 74. Born in Waimea on June 27, 1925, she was a retired store clerk
with Foodland. She is survived by two sons, Howard (Linda) Uohara and Don
(Melinda) Uohara, both of Lihu’e; three daughters, Phyllis (Calvin) Nakamura,
Carol Suzawa and Vicki Dela Cruz, all of Lihu’e; brother Kenso (Sally) Hamada
of Honolulu; two sisters, Midori (Fujito) Yokotake of Honolulu and Itsuko
Nishimori of Lihu’e; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and numerous
nieces and nephews and cousins. Services were held Monday, March 13, 2000.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.

Rufina “Ruth” Terrenal of Kapa’a died at Samuel Mahelona
Memorial Hospital on March 14, 2000 at the age of 91. Born on the Philippine
Islands on July 10, she was a retired nurse with Mahelona Hospital. She is
survived by: Four sons, Edward (Jerry) Emil of New Sarpy, Calif., Richard Emil
of Kapa’a, Albert (Rosalia) Emil of Castro Valley, Calif., Walter (Vicky) Emil
of Pacifica, Calif. and a daughter, Ruth Rose Younggren of Healdsburg, Calif.;
one sister, Rosita Deang of Vacaville, Calif., 16 grandchildren, 10
great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nephews and
cousins. A funeral service has been scheduled at 1 p.m. on Saturday March 18,
2000, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Robert Nomi officiating.
Burial at the Kaua’i Memorial Gardens in Kapaia to follow. Casual attire is
suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
