LIHU’E — Criminal arraignments are pending for two Kaua’i men who face
multiple sexual assault charges in connection with the alleged attack of three
juvenile girls in separate cases in the 1990s.
A Circuit Court arraignment
is scheduled on March 14 for Noel Dacuycuy, 24, of Puhi, who was arrested on
March 3 and was charged with sexual assault in the first degree and with 52
counts of sexual assault in the third degree.
The charges stem from his
alleged assault of two juvenile girls at a home in East Kaua’i from August 1993
to June 1999, according to Deputy Prosecutor Shaylene Iseri-Carvalho.
The
two juvenile girls didn’t report the assaults, and Dacuycuy was arrested
after a friend of one of the victims at an East Kaua’i school contacted the
police.
Dacuycuy was arraigned on March 6, but the case was continued to
allow him to retain an attorney.
Bail has been set at $65,000.
In the
other case, Franklin Riopta, 42, of Hanama’ulu is scheduled to be arraigned in
Family Court on March 13 on sexual assault in the first degree, 23 counts of
sexual assault in the third degree and attempted sexual assault.
The
charges stem from his alleged attack of a female juvenile at a home in East
Kaua’i from October 1990 to June 1995.
Riopta was arrested on March 6
after police responded to a separate complaint at the suspect’s
house.
Riopta was released after he posted a bail bond of $40,000.
