She was born and raised on the island of Kaua’i. In 1945, Florence and her late husband, Robert N. Iwamoto, Sr. started Robert’s Hawai’i Tours. Her dedication and tireless efforts were the driving force in turning their dream into reality.

and tireless efforts were the driving force in turning their dream into
reality. She gave birth and nurtured the Robert’s Dynasty until her retirement
in 1985. She was a remarkable woman with inner strength and a heart of gold. To
her employees, who became her “family” and others around her, she was called
“mom.” She had enough love in her heart to touch the lives of many. She will be
missed by all.
She is survived by brother: Motomo Onishi (Gladys); sister:
Chieko Takeuchi; sons: Robert, Jr., (Arlene), Sonny, Allan (Saiko); daughters:
Arleen Contrades (Danny), Linda Uohara (Howard): 27 grandchildren; 24
great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Lihu’e Hongwanji
Mission on Friday, March 10, at 5 p.m. Casual attire is requested. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to Lihu’e Hongwanji or the Lihu’e Senior
Center.

Kathleen Sokei of Honolulu died Feb. 26, 2000,
at the age of 86.
She was born Jan. 1, 1914, in Kilauea.
She is
survived by her husband: Lincoln; brothers, Paul Gushiken, John Gushiken and
Howard Gushiken; sisters, Ellen Kaya, Elaine Nakano, Gladys Chee, Tome Hokama
and Sueko Togashi.
Private services were held. Arrangements were handled by
Borthwick Mortuary.
