HONOLULU — Kaua’i’s Mari Punzal was part of Magic.
The Magic, a girls
10-and-under youth soccer team based on O’ahu won the Hawai’i Youth Soccer
Association O’ahu Cup championship at Kapiolani Park recently.
Punzal, a
fifth grader at St. Catherine’s School, scored five goals in seven
games.
Punzal was double-rostered, which means she was also able to play on
the 11-and-under team, and she helped lead them to a second place finish while
earning the division’s Most Valuable Player award.
John Abcameirer is the
head coach of the Magic.
The Magic Soccer Club is part of the National
Soccer Academy which is based in Davis, Calif.
The NSA runs training
camps, clinics and seminars in Hawai’i and California, and also provides
opportunities for club members to travel, compete and train in
Europe.
