player Ken Morimoto of Kaua’i is a volunteer assistant coach with the
University of Hawai’i Vulcans baseball team this year.
Morimoto, a former
Waimea High School and UH-Hilo baseball standout, spent a few seasons in the
Los Angeles Dodgers farm system.
Kaua’i pitcher Darin Miyake is this
island’s only player on the Vulcans roster this season. He’s 0-2 and has
appeared in nine of his team’s 19 games so far
– Kamakele, Laranio at
UH-Hilo
HILO, Big Island — Two Kaua’i softball players are on the
University of Hawai’i-Hilo roster this season.
Leila Kamakele, a former
Waimea High School standout, is a catcher for the Vulcans, while Tiffany
Laranio, a former Kapa’a High School standout, is an outfielder. Kamakele has
appeared in three of the Vulcans’ 11 games and is batting .250. Laranio has
played in four games.
– Maumoynier hits an ace

Maumoynier hit a hole-in-one on the Grove Farm Golf Course at Puakea
recently.
Maumoynier, a visitor from Escalon, Calif., used a 9-iron to ace
the 121-yard 15th hole.
