The robbery
was reported sometime after 1 a.m. that day. According to witnesses, the
suspect wore no mask.
Following the robbery, the man drove away in either a
Toyota Forerunner or Ford Bronco.
The clerk was not injured in the
incident, according to the Kaua’i police.
Since the robbery, the gas-market
station has shored up procedures on the way company employees handle money,
said KPD Lt. Bill Ching, who is coordinating the investigation of the
robbery.
The suspect was identified as Hawaiian, in his mid-20s,
fair-skinned, standing about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 180
pounds.
When he left the crime scene, he was seen wearing a jungle-style
camouflage jacket, blue denim jeans and a gray jungle-style brimmed
hat.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to
call KPD Sgt. Sam Sheldon at 241-6702 or Crime Stoppers at
241-66787.
Individuals who provide information that leads to the arrest of
the suspect would be eligible for a cash reward from the Crime Stoppers
program.
The program is sponsored by the Kaua’i Chamber of Commerce and is
administered the Kaua’i police.
