Marie Machado Rapozo of Hanama’ulu died Feb. 7, 2000, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 95. A homemaker, she was born Jan. 11, 1905, in Kealia. She is survived by three sisters: Agnes Vasques of Oregon, Margaret (Louie) Victorino of Lihu’e, and Gussie Louis of ‘Oma’o; one brother: Frank Machado of Kapa’a; caregiver: Mildred (Neil) Rapozo of Hanama’ulu, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, Feb. 17, at Immaculate Conception Church from 9 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., where services will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. by Father Paul. Burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Church cemetery. The family suggests casual attire.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
Lester Takashima
Lester S. Takashima, of Kapa’a, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 7, 2000, at the age of 78. Born in Piopio, Hawai’i on Nov. 20, 1921, he was a retired machinist with the County of Kaua’i.
He is survived by three sons: Dexter (Ku’ulei) Takashima of Kekaha, Dean Takashima of Kapa’a, and Galvin (Lisa) Takashima of Millington, Tenn.; one daughter: Mona (Raymond) Kitasoe of Menlo Park, Calif.; six grandchildren; one brother: Edward (Dora) Takashima of Gardena, Calif., numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service has been scheduled at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Kapa’a United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Chun officiating. Casual attire is suggested.
