Genso Fukunaga of Lihu’e, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 2, 2000. Born in Lihu’e on Sept. 22,1918, he was 81 years of age at the time of his death. He was a retired painter with Minatoya Painting Co.
He is survived by his son: Keith Fukunaga of Kapa’a, five daughters: Joan (Del) Contival of California, Faith (Lenny) Gadingan of Lawai, Debbie Montecinos of California, Judy Fukunaga of Maui, and Jo Ann Fukunaga of Kapa’a.
Also surviving are seven granddaughters: Charmain Contival of California, Lorelei Gadingan of Honolulu, Skye Montecinos of California, Hope Montecinos of California, Liana Palama of Koloa, Kehau Durant of Kapa’a, and Kailani Durant of Kapa’a, four grandsons: Donovan Gadingan of Lawai Kanai Durant of Kapa’a, Derek Montecinos of California, and Keola Durant of Kapa’a, two great-grandchildren: Kameamakamae Palama-Alquiza of Koloa, and Kaiulani Durant of Kapa’a. And his companion Sumako Ichimasa of Lihu’e.
Funeral service has been scheduled at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd. Officiating the service will be Rev. Yukiko Motoyoshi. Casual attire is suggested. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. on Wed., Feb. 9, at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.

Linda Seto
Linda Kay Kimiko Seto of Kaua’i died Jan. 20, 2000, at the age of 55.
She is survived by her mother, Ruth Seto, of Hanapepe, Kaua’i; brother, Alvin Seto of ‘Ele’ele.
Private service was held.
Arrangements were handled by Nuuanu Mortuary.
John Souza Cravalho
John Souza Cravalho of Puhi died Feb. 2, 2000, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, at the age of 79. Born July 12, 1920, on Maui; he was a cowboy with Kipu Ranch and served in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1941 to 1945 and the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947.
He is survived by one daughter: Joylnne (Calvin) Uyesono of Puhi; one granddaughter: Carla (Kimo) Burnz-Matsushima of Lihu’e; two brothers: Louie (Mabel) Cravalho and Alfred Cravalho, both of Maui.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Lihu’e Christian Church for memorial services at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.

Sandy Yama
Sandra Sue “Sandy” Namiko Yama of Kapa’a died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 3, 2000, at the age of 50.
Born in Lihu’e, she is survived by her husband of 30 years, Rodney Yama; two sons: Brandon and Rodney “Koalani” Jr.; two daughters: Cherish and Melissa “Ihilani,”and a granddaughter Mele.
She is also survived by her grandmother Umeyo Akama of Lihu’e, her parents Ted and Helen Matsuura of Ewa Beach; two brothers Russell Nohara of Pearl City and Robin (Doreen) Nohara of Kane’ohe; and one sister Natalie Gerona of Wahiawa; mother-in-law Betty Yama of Wailua; two brothers-in-law: Dwght (Judy) Yama of Wailua and Winston Yama of California, and one sister-in-law Valerie (David) Lee of Massachusetts; and numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, and nephews.
As a dedicated wife, she and the children lived with her husband at numerous military bases in the United States, finally returning home to Kaua’i in 1989. As the business service supervisor at the Department of Transportation, Airports Division, she developed sincere friendships with many of her co-workers. She was a loving mother as well as a caring grandmother often seen at her children’s extra-curricular events as their #1 supporters.
Funeral services will be held at Lihu’e Christian Church on Monday, Feb. 7. Viewing will be at 4 p.m, with services following at 5 p.m.
Family requests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.
