Edward Goro Kikuchi of ‘Oma’o died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, on Jan. 29, 2000, at the age of 91. Born in Kainaliu on the Big Island.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gladys Nishi Kikuchi; two sons: WIlliam “Pila” (Dolly) Kikuchi of ‘Oma’o and Bert (Irish) Kikuchi of Kula, Maui; six grandchildren: Michelei Kikuchi and Kristina (Kimo) Palenapa of Honolulu and Kathleen Kikuchi of Makawao, Maui; Robert (Leah) Kikuchi of Wailuku, Katsuo (Lori) Kikuchi and Kyle Kikuchi of Kula, Maui; and one great-grandson, Tylr Ortogero of Maui.
He is also survived by three nephews: Katsuo of ‘Oma’o, Gary (Kathy) Kikuchi of Honolulu and Edward Kikuchi of Los Angeles; and two sisters-in-law: Misayo Kikuchi of Honolulu and Natsu Kikuchi of Los Angeles. One of seven children, he was preceded in death by his last remaining sibling, Schichiro, 86, of Honolulu by 7 hours.
Having retired as a supervisor after 42 years of employment at CPC (Del Monte), Kikuchi moved to Kaua’i in 1977. He was a member of the Koloa Hongwanji and active with the Senior Citizens.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m on on Saturday, Feb. 5, at Borthwick Mortuary with services to follow at 4 p.m., the Rev. Eric Ikeda officiating. Casual attire is suggested and flowers are to be omitted.
