Hawai’i Ballroom Dance Association, Hanapepep Chapter will hold
registration for fourth quarter classes on Tuesday, Jan. 4 and 11, 7-9 p.m. at
Hanapepe Neighborhood Center.

Health topic of
KKCR radio
“Health Topics of the
Tropics” will be the topic of a radio show on KKCR Radio on on Jan. 5, from
2-3 p.m., 90.9 or 91.9 FM.
Host Belle Shepherd will give an overview of
monthly health and safety topics that are national awareness issues for the
month of January.
The show will also feature special guests from the
Malama Project to talk about healthy pregnancy issues and programs on Kaua’i,
as well as representatives from March of Dimes to discuss birth defects and the
upcoming Walk-a-thon. “Listen for your health.”
Sierra Club hikes
Waipo’o Falls
The Sierra Club will sponsor a hike to Waipo’o Falls on
Sunday, Jan. 9, in Koke’e
It will be a moderately strenuous, 2.5 mile hike.
Start the new year on right foot hiking one of the island’s favorite trails. It
is a spectacular hike with beautiful views.

Hawai’i Conference on Rural
Health
Hawai’i Conference on Rural Health will be held on Jan. 13 and 14,
at Waimea Plantation Cottages.
Jerry Coopey, Director of Government
Affairs, Federal Office of Rural Health Policy, will give update on federal
rural health policy and what it means to rural Hawai’i. John Supplitt,
Director, Section for Small or Rural Hospitals, American Hospital Association,
will discuss the current state of rural hospitals across the nation. Seiji
Naya, Director, Hawai’i Dept. of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism,
will look at economic opportunities in health care. Also a number of panel
presentations on health and economics in rural areas and various site visits,
