Jr.Joseph Wayne “Jojo” Taboniar, Jr. of Kona, Hawaii, formerly of Hanapepe, Kauai, died at Kona Community Hospital on Dec. 19,1999, at the age of 23. Born in Waimea, Kauai on Nov. 2, 1976, he was a Meat Cutter with Kona Specialty Meats.He also was a member of The Undertakers Softball League in Kona.
He is survived by: his mother: Sheila Ann (Jerry) Louis, Sr. of Hanapepe, Kauai; his father: Joseph Wayne (Sharon) Taboniar, Sr. of Eleele, Kauai; his brother: William (Julie) Taboniar of Kapaa, Kauai; one half-brother, Michael (Jennifer) Costa of Mililani, O’ahu; his sister: Thia Taboniar of Lihue, Kauai; maternal grandmother: Soledad Garcia of Hanamaulu, Kauai, paternal grandmother: Mary Rodrigues of Koloa, Kauai; step sisters: Charlotte Moniz & Doren Dela Cruz of Eleele, Kauai, Jennifer Moniz of New Mill, Kauai, and Kimberly Moniz of New Mill, Kauai; step-brother: Jamie Moniz of Misawa AFBj, Japan; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 29.

Gilbert Casiraghi
Gilbert A. Casiraghi of Princeville, Kaua’i, died at his home on Nov. 24, 1999, at the age of 69. Born Jan. 20, 1930, in New Rochelle, NY, he was a salesman for 3M Riker Pharmaceutical Co. until his retirement. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a 1951 graduate of Lehigh University of Bethlehem, PA.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dorothy Casiraghi of Tucson, Ariz.; four children: Gilbert (Audrey) Casiraghi of Tucson, Ariz., Dorothy (Kurt) Sandstrom of Pittsburgh, Penn., Keith (Gay) Casiraghi of Sonoita, Ariz., and Lynn (Richard) Clewis of Tucson, Ariz; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; brother Noel (Skip) Casiraghi of Rye, NY and numerous friends in Hawai’i and Arizona.
He was a dedicated volunteer on the island of Kaua’i serving in positions with the National Botanical Garden, Limahuli Botanical Garden, Kilauea Lighthouse and Kilauea Point Natural History Association. He was also a member and president of the North Shore Lions Club. Prior to retiring to Kaua’i, he was a member of the Tucson Lions Club, Civitans of Tucson and a member and volunteer of The Sonoran Desert Museum of Tucson.
A celebration in his honor was held at Kilauea Lighthouse on Dec. 7.

Roy Oshima
Roy “Diff” Hidemi Oshima, of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 25, 1999, at the age of 62. Born in Puhi, Kauai on Aug. 31, 1937, he was the owner/operator of Lawai Restaurant.
He is survived by: his wife: Myrna of Hanamaulu, Kauai; two daughters: Alison Oshima of Honolulu, Oahu and Doreen Buza of Lawai, Kauai; four grandsons: Edwin Corrales, Corey Corrales, Brandon Buza, Matthew Buza, all of Lawai, Kauai; one granddaughter: Randi Buza of Lawai, Kauai; seven brothers: Stanley Oshima of Eleele, Kauai, Thomas (Flora) Oshima of Kaneohe, Oahu, William (Janet) Oshima of San Jose, Calif., Paul (Evelyn) Oshima of Kaneohe, Oahu, Arthur (Nadine) Oshima of Lihue, Kauai, Edwin (Janet) Kamioka of Lihue, Kauai , and Jerry (Linda) Oshima of Lihu’e; grandmother: Sachiko Yoshimoto of Lawai, Kauai, and mother-in-law: Sumiyo Matoba of Hanapepe, Kauai; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, at the Lihue Hongwanji Mission; service officiated by Rev. Yukiko Motoyoshi will begin at 4:30 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Jackson Wong
Jackson Wong of Hanapepe died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 27, 1999, at the age of 51. The owner/operator of Wong’s Restaurant, he was born on May 17, 1948, in Canton, China.
He is survived by his wife: JoAnn Wong of Hanapepe; son: Justin Wong of Hanapepe; three daughters: Juliet Wong of Fort Collin, Colo., Julia Wong and Jacqueline “Jackie” Wong, both of Hanapepe; his mother: Chuk Hung Lam of Hanapepe; one brother: James (Annie) Wong of Visalia, Calif., numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service officiated by Rev. Fujimori will begin at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.
