Joseph Wayne “Jojo” Taboniar, Jr. of Kona, Hawaii, formerly of Hanapepe, Kaua’i, died at Kona Community Hospital on Dec. 19, 1999, at the age of 23. Born in Waimea, Kaua’i on Nov. 2, 1976, he was a Meat Cutter with Kona Specialty Meats.He also was a member of The Undertakers Softball League in Kona.
He is survived by: his mother: Sheila Ann (Jerry) Louis, Sr. of Hanapepe, Kauai; his father: Joseph Wayne (Sharon) Taboniar, Sr. of Eleele, Kauai; his brother: William (Julie) Taboniar of Kapaa, Kauai; one half-brother, Michael (Jennifer) Costa of Mililani, O’ahu; his sister: Thia Taboniar of Lihue, Kauai; maternal grandmother: Soledad Garcia of Hanamaulu, Kauai, paternal grandmother: Mary Rodrigues of Koloa, Kauai; six step sisters: Charlotte Moniz & Doren Dela Cruz of Eleele, Kauai, Jennifer Moniz of New Mill, Kauai, Kimberly Moniz of New Mill, Kauai, Monica Louis of Lihue, Kauai, Jerilyn (George) Gregory of Georgetown, TX, and Linda (Danny) Kanahele of Makaweli, Kauai; two step-brothers: Jamie Moniz of Misawa AFBj, Japan and Jerry (Reiko) Louis, Jr. of Hanapepe, Kauai; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo; mass officiated by Father Keahi will begin at 11 a.m. followed by burial at the Hanapepe Public cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

George Horikawa
George Yasumi Horikawa of Kailua, died Dec. 13, 1999, at the age of 86. He was born in Kekaha and was owner of George Fender Shop in Honolulu.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma M. Horikawa; daughters, Barbara E. Horikawa, Georgianna Y. Miyamura, Lorraine c. Tarutani and Gail A. Wong; son, Russell M. Horikawa. There are 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Shigeru and Kyotoku Horikawa.
Private services were held at Ordenstein’s Hawaiian memorial Park Mortuary.
Elias Rendon
Elias Gamalenda Rendon of Omao, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 23, 1999, at the age of 89. An irrigator with Grove Farm Company, he was born on July 17, 1910 in the Philippines.
He is survived by daughters, Lucila Rendon of Washington, D.C. and Tessie (Tomas) Solatre of Kalaheo; son, Herman (Laureana) Rendon of Koloa; sister, Fulgencia Baniaga of the Philippines, and sister-in-law, Marciana (Vicente) Gaboy of Kakaha. There are 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary chapel in Koloa from 6 to 9 p.m. Rosary at 7 p.m.
Visitation will be again on Thursday, Dec. 30, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Koloa from 8 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Fr. Felix. Burial will follow at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church Cemetery.
Patrick Mcguire
Patrick Michael Mcguire of Kalaheo died at his residence on Dec. 15, 1999 at the age of 41. He was born in Oregon on March 17, 1958.
He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Mcguire and his sister, Karrie Mcguire.
He is survived by his mother Karen Mcguire and sister, Alberta Jones and nephew Dennis Mcguire. There are numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services will be on Sunday, Jan. 9, at Lydgate Park Pavilion from 1 to 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.
Andrea D. Freitas
Andrea D. Freitas, of Kalaheo, Kauai, died at her home on Dec. 23, 1999, at the age of 56. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on June 28, 1943, she was a Clerk with Kaman Industrial Technology.
She is survived by: her husband: Nelson E. Freitas of Kalaheo, Kauai; two sons: David N.K. Freitas of Daly City, CA and Douglas & Michelle (Bajo) Freitas of Kaumakani, Kauai; one granddaughter: Daelene K. Freitas of Kaumakani, Kauai; four brothers: Jocinto Duque of Boston, MA, Dennis Duque of Milpitas, Calif., Derrick (Cindy) Reis of Kalaheo, Kauai, Larry Duque of Lihue, Kauai; five sisters: Josephine (Mike) Albayrak of Milpitas, CA; Mary Jane (Bernard) Simao of Kalaheo, Kauai; Dolores Shaffer of Puhi, Kauai; Diana (Darrel) Simao of Lawai, Kauai; and Linda (Michael) Koerte of Hanamaulu, Kauai; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews & cousins
