Masao Sakoda, of Kalaheo, Kaua’i, died at Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital on Dec. 6,1999, at the age of 80. Born in Hanapepe, Kaua’i on Feb. 20, 1919, he was a retired Mechanic with Sakoda Garage.
He is survived by: his wife: Rin Sakoda of Kalaheo, Kaua’i; two sons: Ronald (Alma) Sakoda of California and Erwin (Bernadette) Sakoda of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; one daughter: Vivian (Charles) Pereira of Brydeswood, Kaua’i; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters: Kozue (Toshimi) Tayama of Waipahu, O’ahu and Chidori (Shizuo) Ohara of Hanapepe, Kaua’i; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Josephine Krakau
Josephine Krakau, of ‘Oma’o, Kaua’i, died at Hale ‘Oma’o Nursing Home on Dec. 18, 1999, at the age of 70. A waitress with the hotel industry, she was born on Feb. 15, 1929.
She is survived by her son: Edwin (Dottie) Frederiksen, of Tennessee; two daughters: Caroline Isaacson, of Po’ipu and Sandy Bishop, of Kalaheo; two brothers: Phil Meloccaro and John Meloccaro, both of Nebraska; one grandaughter: Tanya Isaacson, of Kapa’a; and best friend Benny Allianac, of Koloa.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel, in Koloa, at 3 p.m., with services at 3:30 p.m. Scattering of her cremains will follow at Po’ipu Beach at 5 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.
