Kaua’i Historical Society and the Kauai Museum will co-sponsor a history
lecture, “Ancient Hawaiian Temples in Wailua” by David Helela with photos by
Randy Wichman on Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort.
The
free lecture and slide presentation, which is open to the general public, will
be held in the resort’s Alii Room at 5:30 p.m. and again at 7 p.m.
David
Helela and Randy Wichman of Na Kahu Hikina A Ka La will give the lecture and
slide presentation on the ancient Hawaiian temples in Wailua. Their
presentation will seek to illustrate the spiritual basis of these sacred
places, the antiquity of the temples and the significance of Wailua in ancient
Hawaii. Their objective is simply to instill a Hawaiian sense of place to those
who attend the lecture.
The Museum and the Society jointly sponsor this
program to bring its members together, offering an opportunity to meet and
mingle for the holiday season. No host cocktails will be featured starting at 5
p.m. Dinner reservations are recommended for those wishing to have dinner at
the hotel before or after the lecture.
Those interested in learning about
the Kaua’i Historical Society and Kaua’i Museum are encouraged to attend. A
two-for-one new membership will be available for the first time. This will be a
first-ever, one time only New Year special opportunity.
