LIHU’E – Kaua’i Deputy Police Chief Paul Hurley has been appointed to lead the
department’s Patrol Services Bureau.
Hurley took command of the bureau on
Wednesday, said KPD Chief George Freitas.
Hurley will replace Capt. Harris
Moriguchi, who has headed the bureau as an interim administrator for at least a
year.
A replacement for Hurley has not been named. He was one of three
candidates who applied for the inspector’s position.
Hurley has been a
member of the Kaua’i Police Department for 27 years and six months, and has
served as the deputy chief for the past four years.
Hurley has taken a step
down in his overall responsibilities in the police department, Freitas said,
adding that his experience will help support the continued delivery of
high-quality patrol services.
