Modesto Bruce Castillo of New Mill Camp, ‘Ele’ele, Kaua‘i, died at his residence in Newmill on Nov. 20, 1999, at the age of 89. Born in Bacarra Ilocos Norte, Philippines on June 1, 1910, he was a crane operator for McBryde Sugar Company.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Barut Castillo of Newmill, and 4 children Alfred (Dolores) Castillo of Kalaheo, Josephine (Winifredo) Samoy of Tucson, Ariz., Pacita (Gerald) Tegen of Kewaunee, Wisc., Macarthur (Gloria) Castillo of Lake Ariel, Penn., eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Keahi. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
