WAIMEA – The Punahou Buffanblu softball team went home as holiday winners in the annual Waimea High School Softball Invitational Tournament. Punahou edged Kamehameha 6-5 in the battle of two Interscholastic League of Honolulu teams in the tournament’s championship game.

teams in the tournament’s championship game.
Host Waimea compiled a 2-3
record. Waimea’s wins were over King Kekaulike of Maui 8-6 and Maui High School
8-5.
The Kaua’i High Red Raiders went 1-3-1. Their win was an 8-4 victory
over the Kapa’a Warriors, and their tie was a 5-5 contest against Baldwin High
School of Maui.
Kapa’a, one of three Kaua’i Interscholastic Federation
teams along with Waimea and Kaua’i High, didn’t win a game in five
tries.
Punahou finished the tourney with a 6-0 record, while runner-up
Kamehemeha wound up 5-1.
Two O’ahu teams finished tied for third place with
4-1 records — Pearl City and Mililani.
