Modesto Bruce Castillo of New Mill Camp, ‘Ele’ele, Kauai, died at his residence in Newmill on Nov. 20, 1999, at the age of 89. Born in Bacarra Ilocoa Norte Philippines on June 1, 1910, he was a crane operator for McBryde Sugar Company.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Barut Castillo of Newmill, and 4 children Alfred (Dolores) Castillo, Josephine (Winifredo) Samoy, Pacita (Gerald) Tegen, Macarthur (Gloria) Castillo, eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Keahi. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested.

Infant Roderick Anton Hubert Jr. “JR” died at Maui Memorial Medical Center on Nov. 20, 1999 at the age of 5 months. He was born in Wailuku on June 17, 1999.
He is survived by his father Rodrick Anton Hubert Sr. of Kahului, his mother Trishia Renee Ragragola of Kahului; one sister Shaute Chere-Ann Hubert of Kahului and one half sister Eileen McCarthy of New York, maternal grandparents, Patricia Pavao of Kahului, Arthur Hapakuka of Wailuku and Alberto Ragragola of Kaua’i, maternal great grandparents Alfred and Edith Pavao and Bernice Ragragola all of Kaua’i, paternal grandparents Chere-Ann Rowland of Kahului and James Nathan Hubert of Los Angeles.
Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27, at the Wailuku Church of God, 2123 Kahookele St. Wailuku, Maui. Services start at 9:30 a.m to10:30 a.m. viewing. Burial at 11 a.m. at Na Wai Eha Cemetery. The family requests casual attire.
