Kikuji OtaKikuji Ota

Kikuji OtaKikuji Ota, of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Nov. 20, 1999, at the age of 77. Born in Lihu’e, Kaua’i on Sept. 11, 1922, he was a retired Instrument Technician with Grove Farm Co., and a United States Army Veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Chieko Ota of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; one brother: Nobuo (Helen) Ota of Kapa’a; three sisters: Yoshiko (Goro) Tasaka of Koloa, Hatsue (Bobby) Tasaka of Hanalei, Kaua’i, and Hideko Uemura of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at the Kapa’a Hongwanji Mission; service officiated by Rev. Koho Takata will begin at 3 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.

Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.

Bryson “Kala” Nishimura

Bryson “Kala” Nishimura of Honolulu, O’ahu, died at Lihu’e, Kauai on Nov. 16, 1999, at the age of 33. Born in Honolulu, O’ahu, he was a carpenter.

He is survived by one son: Joshua H. Nishimura of Kaneohe, O’ahu; his mother: Arminta R. Nishimura of Honolulu, O’ahu, father; Bryson (Bridget) Nishimura of Waipahu, O’ahu, brother: Chad G.K. Nishimura of Waipahu, O’ahu, two sisters: Sandra P. Davis of Seattle, Wash., Taylor E.I. Nishimura of Waipahu, O’ahu, maternal grandmother: Josephine K. Tsark of Honolulu, O’ahu, paternal grandmother: Julia Ahia Cooley of Sun City, Florida; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27, at the Kailua Christian Church, 317 Manono St., Kailua, O’ahu; service officiated by Rev. Alan Maeno will begin at 10 a.m. followed by scattering at Mokulua TwinIslands, Lanikai, O’ahu. Casual attire and flower leis are suggested.
