Lawrence Calgano, Artist in Residence at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, will conduct a three-day workshop at the Kauai Art Group building on Rice Street from 2 to 5 on Friday, December 6th; from 9 to 12 noon on Saturday the 7th and on Sunday the 8th from 1 to 3 p.m.
Mr. Calgano, Andrew Mellon professor at Carnegie Institute of Technology, was born in San Francisco and studied at California School of Fine Art, Ecole de la Grande Shaumiere in Paris, and Instute d’Arte Statale in Florence. He has painted in Mexico, France, Italy and North America.
The recipient of numerous fellowships and grants, Mr. Calgano has exhibited his works in Sweden, Spain, France, and the United States.
The artist has requested that the Friday and Saturday workshops be limited to fifteen students, making a total enrollment of 30. Those signing up are asked to bring a partially completed original work and Mr. Calgano will offer individual critique and assistance. A three dollar fee will entitle each member to ONE of the two workshops and the Sunday lecture, which will be discussion with slides of Calgano’s own work, and viewpoints, and a question and answer period following.
