WAILUA — Rehabilitation of the ‘Opaeka‘a Bridge in Wailua Homesteads began Monday, a county news release states.
The project is expected to take approximately 11 weeks to complete.
During the first three weeks of the rehabilitation, the bridge will be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Thereafter, the bridge will be closed completely until the project is finished.
The rehabilitation work includes the installation of additional metal beams under the bridge as a safety measure, while the design phase for the repair and replacement of the bridge is under way.
Cushnie Construction Company, Inc. was awarded a $290,844 contract for the ‘Opaeka‘a Bridge rehabilitation project.
