LIHU‘E — Former Kapa‘a soccer standouts Chase Bukoski and Ikaika Fuerte continued their impressive seasons for the surging Hawai‘i Pacific University Sea Warriors, delivering big games in the team’s 5-0 victory over the Chaminade Silverswords, Tuesday in Honolulu.
Fuerte and Bukoski teamed up early in the contest, with Bukoski finishing his 10th goal of the season in the 12th minute, off a Fuerte assist. The 10 goals in conference play put Bukoskis in second place in the PacWest.
Fuerte was not done distributing and would tally two more assists in the contest, giving him seven on the season, which now places him in the conference lead. Alan Albertazzi and Luis Jungo were the recipients on those two goals, the team’s fourth and fifth of the night, respectively.
The win puts HPU at 7-2-2 in conference play, 10-2-2 overall. Their conference mark gives them 23 points on the season, good for fourth place. Grand Canyon leads all schools with 31 points on a 10-1-1 record.
The Sea Warriors return to action Thursday against UH-Hilo. Start time at Atherton Field is set for 1:30 p.m. The team then closes its regular season with another home match against BYU-Hawai‘i, Saturday at 3 p.m.
