The Aloha PGA Professional Championship and Stroke Play Championship will be played Sept. 21-22 at the Honolulu Country Club on O‘ahu.

Ron Castillo, Jr. of the Princeville Makai Cours (68-66-134) is the Defending Champion of the SPC. Also qualifying is John Lynch (67-67), the defending Stroke Play Champion (67-67-71-205), and John Hearn (70-69).

The SPC is the third major championship of the 2009 season with a total of 38 island professionals competing. Professionals participating in the SPC will be eligible for two spots representing the Aloha Section in the 43rd PGA Professional National Championship to be played June 27-30, 2010, at French Lick Resort in French, IN.

The Aloha Senior PGA Professional Championship and Senior Championship are being held in conjunction with this event. Jay Taise (74-73-147) of the Mauna Lani North Course at Kohala Coast, HI is the defending Senior Section PGA champion with Mark Morrison (72-75) also qualifying.

There are a total of 17 senior professionals competing.

Professionals participating in the Senior SPC will be eligible for three spots representing the Aloha Section in the Senior PGA Professional National Championship that will play Oct. 29 to Nov. 1, 2010 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL.

All competitions are a 36-hole stroke play event.

SPC-Stroke Play participants are competing for a total purse of $18,500 with the winner receiving a $3,000 first place check and a spot into the 2010 Sony Open in Hawai‘i. Senior SPC-Senior Championship participants are competing for a total purse of $3,000 with the winner receiving a $1,000 check. The winners of both the SPC and the Senior SPC will also receive round trip airline tickets courtesy of Continental Airlines.
