Paddlers were treated to light trade winds, sunny skies, and generally perfect conditions for Niumalu's long distance race on Saturday.
Canoe clubs from around the island participated in the 13 mile race out of Hanalei Bay.
Competitors paddled upwind along Princeville's Rocky coast to a buoy located just outside of Anini and then turned around for a down-wind run that included some fun bumps to ride and a finish around the sailboats in Hanalei.
Puuwai women beat out Na Molokama by over three minutes, but Na Molokama clearly ruled the Men's Race, garnering first in both the Open and Masters divisions.
Hanalei Civic Canoe Club's mixed crew won a decisive first with their wave riding skills.
