Great month for Gay Pride

Wow! What a great Gay Pride Month! What a great month for Civil Rights!

Belgium recorded its first same-sex marriages.

The Ontario Supreme Court announced that marriage rights must be extended to same-sex couples. The ruling will now be upheld by Canadian Prime Minister Chrétien's government with the support of at least 10 of the 12 provinces.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that sodomy laws violate privacy rights, and thereby struck down passé laws in 13 states while expanding our the scope protections of our Constitution.

Just as the Voting Rights Act of '65 focused on African-Americans but ended up protecting Polynesian-Americans and Asian-Americans as well, so the Texas ruling protects heterosexuals as well as homosexuals, and by expanding the number of people eligilble to take part in civil marriage, that institution is, as a result, strengthened.
