LIHU‘E – County officials are asking residents to submit their ideas about the future of Kaua‘i’s public parks.

“We started the update on our Parks Master Plan a year ago and have had two rounds of community meetings on this important topic,” Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. said in a county news release.

“Now that we are in the final stages of planning, I encourage those who haven’t had a chance to share their views to please let us know how they would like our parks to be,” the mayor said.

Comments will be accepted until April 20.

To submit comments online or for more information about the Parks Master Plan, visit www.kauaiparks.com.

Written comments can also be dropped off at any neighborhood center or at the Lihu‘e Civic Center.

Following the comment period, a draft of the revised Parks Master Plan will be developed and reviewed, and the final version will eventually be incorporated into the county’s General Plan.

“Now that we are in the final stages of planning, I encourage those who haven’t had a chance to share their views to please let us know how they would like our parks to be,” the mayor said.

In Kauai politic speak this translates to,
“Now that we have finalized plans for our parks, please submit your suggestions so we may take credit for incorporating those that agree with our plan, ignore those that differ, and dismiss any future suggestions/complaints with a reference to the fact that we ‘asked for public input’ before placing our plan in effect ”.
