LAWAI — Ernie Domingo of Hanama‘ulu found the perfect accessory for the opening of the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League at the Lawai Cannery Mini Storage garage sale on Sunday.

Domingo was on his way home and stopped to see what he could find at the Lawai sale, which was held to benefit the Kaua‘i Keiki and High School Rodeo Association. Charlene Medeiros coordinated the event.

Lorna Santos of Lawai Cannery Mini Storage was hosting her own booth, noting there was not that much space for this sale resulting in just 35 vendors being able to have a space in the event.

But that did not stop the shoppers who jammed the front gate for the 9 a.m. opening.

“Everything we have here benefits the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program,” said Sharmaine Simao of King Auto Center, who hosted one of the booths close to the main gate.

“The employees all donated items for this sale, and everything we make will go to the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program through our two bowling teams we have for the March 3 Bowl for Kids’ Sake bowling tournament,” she said.

The next Lawai Cannery garage sale will be on March 18 to benefit the Easter Seals.

Call the Lawai Cannery at 332-5929 for more information.
