PO‘IPU — The body recovered July 25 floating off of Shipwreck’s Beach has been identified as Shannon David Doak, 35, of Cleveland, Ohio.

A hiker saw the body floating near rocks about a quarter-mile east of Shipwreck’s Beach. Firefighters and Rescue 3 personnel aboard Air 1 helicopter assisted police in recovering the body.

The name and residence had been withheld pending notification of kin in Ohio and Florida, according to the Kaua‘i Police Department. The results of an autopsy have not been released and an investigation is ongoing, but police do not suspect foul play.
