PUHI — The lights on the large Christmas tree twinkled as Helen Cox, Kaua‘i Community College chancellor, accepted a check for $10,000 from the managers of A&B Hawai‘i subsidiaries on Kaua‘i.

“Support of our corporate partners in the community makes it possible for the college to enhance the overall learning experience for our students as well as further develop our faculty teaching skills,” said Shirley Tani, the KCC director of development, during the luncheon meeting of the A&B Hawai‘i subsidiaries managers.

According to a release from KCC, the A&B Foundation has contributed $136,176 to the college since 1993.

The foundation also supports several programs and units of the University of Hawai‘i with total contributions of more than $893,235 throughout the university system.

“We thank the A&B Foundation and its corporate subsidiaries for its ongoing support which we greatly appreciate, especially during these tough economic times,” Tani said.

Representing the A&B Foundation at the luncheon meeting presentation were Dewayne Kong of Matson Navigation, Wayne Katayama of the Kaua‘i Coffee Company, Trinette Kaui of the A&B Properties, Inc., and Tom Shigemoto, vice president of A&B Properties, Inc.
