Native Hawaiian health and cultural practices brought many interactive educational experiences for residents and visitors alike through the Hawaiiana Festival and the “Is Hawaiian Culture Alive and Well?” conference at the third annual Malama Ola Festival held Sayurday at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Po‘ipu.
The Hawaiian Festival provides an abundance of teaching and demonstrations about wood carving, tapa weaving, lauhala weaving, feather arts, poi pounding, the art of kakau (tattoo), stone carving, bracelet making, music and dance. Many of these activities invited attendees to participate as part of a hands-on learning experience.
