LIHUE — Footage shot by Kauai underwater man Terry Lilley documenting the changes in Oahu’s coral reefs and beaches will be at an Ocean Benefit Concert at Surfer, The Bar in the Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu’s North Shore Saturday.
Alongside music from international musician Samuel J and guest artists Landon McNamara, Paul Izak and Noelani, the movies are before and after shots documenting rising sea levels and changes in the nearshore environment. Footage of whales, dolphins and other marine animals will also be shown.
“Some of this footage has been shown on National Geographic, Hawaiian and Brazilian TV and viewed by millions of people worldwide,” Lilley said. “This event will also kick off our free North Shore marine science school program so it will be a fun event to bring the kids and local teachers to, especially your children who surf.”
The talk story, concert and film gathering is set to begin at 7 p.m.
Tourists are to blame for changes to beaches and reefs, just as they are to blame for all of Kauai’s woes.
