Kuhio Highway opening could be early 2019

WAINIHA — The Hawaii Department of Transportation said Wednesday that due to weather-related delays and consideration of environmental and community concerns, it is now targeting early 2019 for reopening of Kuhio Highway on the North Shore.

At the community’s request, the following convoy times were added to the Sunday/holiday schedule, and will be honored for future Sunday/holiday convoys:

Sundays and holidays, in effect as of today:

• 6 a.m. Wainiha to Hanalei

• 6:30 a.m. Hanalei to Wainiha

The other convoy times remain unchanged.
