KOLOA — Seasport Divers is partnering with the Kauai Surfrider Foundation to do an underwater debris cleanup at Koloa Landing, one of Kauai’s popular dive and snorkel locations.
The cleanup will extend to the beach and shore area as well, and is set for Saturday, Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon. Equipment is provided.
“We are asking all divers and snorkelers to come out and help us give a little TLC to the landing,” organizers said.
Sign-up sheets are available at the Seasport Divers shop in Poipu, in the Kukuiula Store complex.
Project Aware is also helping support the cleanup. Project Aware is a nonprofit and worldwide movement for marine conservation. Donations of $50 to Project Aware will land donors certificiations with the nonprofit — a distinction that labels donors aware of the threats to the ocean and marine life, and equipped with some tools to help.
Other prizes and giveaways will be offered, including discounted rates on rental gear for certified divers.
