LIHUE — The Kauai Chamber of Commerce interviewed 11 of 14 candidates for Kauai County Council, and has posted those interviews on YouTube. They can be found at bit.ly/2OpcKl5.
Chamber President Mark Perriello asks the candidates the same questions. They range from the county budget to how the candidate would make it easier for someone to open and operate a business, how to balance tourism and maintaining the island’s lifestyle and how they would manage growth. He also asks why they are running and what they would like to share about themselves.
Interviews range from 15 to 20 minutes.
Perriello believes the interviews will provide people with more information about candidates so they can make informed decisions when they vote in the general election on Nov. 6.

Incumbent Kagawa has avoided participation in any forums or interviews. What is he hiding? Or does he feel entitled as an incumbent, thinking that his re-election is secured? Is that why he proposed ending term limits for councilmembers? This guy recently used his government email to engage in a profanity laced racist rant against a community member resident of Kauai. If Kauai is to be led by talented committed hands, this guy has got to go.
As far as Shaylene Iseri, her history on Kauai should disqualify her. She is a vicious racist who has cost taxpayers plenty with her big mouth, bad attitude, and massive lawsuits. Do NOT consider wasting a vote on Shaylene.
